Wing members help CFC exceed goal of $22,000, raise $735,000 total Published Nov. 26, 2007 By Jasmine DeNamur 919th SOW Public Affairs DUKE FIELD, Fla. -- Duke members raising funds for the Combined Federal Campaign ended the year with yet another goal met. With an initial goal of $22,000, reservists have exceeded this year's expectations, raising a total of $23,836. "I'm quite happy with what we ended up with this year," said Capt. Matthew Heintzelman, 919th Maintenance Group CFC unit coordinator. "People here gave larger gifts than what I've seen in previous years when I was on active duty, and I didn't have a difficult time at all eliciting support from them." With the CFC season beginning Sept. 24 and ending Nov. 2, unit representatives had about a month a half to help raise the money, all the while having to do their jobs, and for some, deal with inspections. "We did everything from making phone calls to visiting people in their offices to help boost donations," said Captain Heintzelman. "I was glad to see maintainers taking the time to give towards this cause during the stressful Maintenance Standardization and Evaluation Program inspection." Everyone was able to pull through again this year, said Master Sgt. Jo Vonschoeler, wing CFC project officer. "We had a generous, giving spirit here," she said. The spirit of giving was also apparent in Eglin Air Force Base's total tallies. "Along with our contributions, Eglin was able to raise more than $735,000 combined," said Sergeant Vonschoeler. As for next year's campaign, Captain Heintzelman is already developing a game plan. "Next year, we're going to not only focus on the full-timers, but the traditional reservists as well. Hopefully we'll be able to host some fun events so we can raise even more money," he said. More than 70 percent of full-timers here donated to the CFC. "We're a close community and everyone understands the value of giving," said Sergeant Vonschoeler. "Every year, reservists never fail to come through for those in need."
