Loggies take AFRC award

DUKE FIELD, Fla. --

The 919th Special Operations Logistics Readiness Squadron was recently named Air Force Reserve Command’s Air Reserve Component Logistics Activity of the Year for 2016.

“The 919 SOLRS’ Loggies are proud to accept this award as confirmation of our commitment to the wing mission,” said Lt. Col. Matthew Heintzelman, the squadron’s commander.

The squadron provides integrated logistical support to the 919th Special Operations Wing, 7th Special Forces Group and Air Force Special Operations Command.

In Fiscal Year 2016, the unit’s Airmen provided logistical support to the large-scale special operations exercise Emerald Warrior.  They contributed to the success with vehicle and fuel operations as well as weapons shipments for multiple sister-services.

The Airmen also provide support for newly acquired C-146 mission by providing warehouse space and offloading in-bound equipment from Cannon AFB for the Sierra Nevada Corporation.

The squadron has one of only a few parachute rigging flights in the Air Force.  The Aerial Delivery team rigged, loaded and recovered 131 tons enabling 349 sorties in support of C-145 pilot and loadmaster training.

The SOLRS also provided support to the large-scale fighter exercise, Red Flag.  The Airmen organized six movements of 442 passengers and 510 tons of equipment.

“Providing special operations support creates distinctive challenges for Airmen, but each time we’ve accepted it and ensured the mission got accomplished,” said the commander.  “This award is recognition of those unique efforts.”
