From left, Col. David Pavey, 927th Air Refueling Wing commander, and retired Air Force Capt. Norm Bild present Col. Andy Comtois, 919th Special Operations Wing commander, with a signed lithograph from artist Keith Woodcock at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., recently. The artwork, titled “Rescue on the Plain of Jars” commemorates U.S.-led covert military operations in Laos during the Vietnam War. Knowing the 919th SOW’s covert operations mission, Pavey and Bild, an amateur historian, were inspired to donate the historical artwork during the Duke Field unit’s civic leader tour of MacDill and its 927th ARW headquarters.
