Duke Field plans annual Family Day event

The 919th Special Operations Wing holds its annual Family Day celebration for Duke Field reservists and their family members 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13. In addition to the traditional outdoor picnic with free food and beverages for all, the event features live music, a variety of children's activities, a chili cook-off, a car/truck/motorcycle show competition, displays and much more. The schedule of events is as follows:

11:30--Picnic serving line opens

Noon--Commander's welcome remarks

Noon-2:30 p.m.--Music by Steve Hall

1-2:30 p.m.--Adult flag football (sign up at baseball field)

1-3 p.m.--Corn Hole

1-3 p.m.--Children's face painting, bubbles, cookie decorating

1:30 p.m--Children's sack race

2:30 p.m.--Children's three-legged race

2:30-4 p.m.--Music by The Leroy Jenkins Band

3 p.m.--Adult tug-of-war

3:30 p.m.--Awards announced for car show, chili cook-off and games

3:40 p.m.--Door prize drawing (MP3s, e-readers; must be present to win)

(Note: This year, additional family events will take place Oct. 14. The Outpost offers Wii and X-Box gaming at 10 p.m., followed by child-friendly food at special prices from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also, the movie "The Avengers" will be shown at 1 p.m. in Spectre Hall.)
