Phillips assumes command of 919th OG

The 919th Operations Group welcomed a new commander here July 14. Here is a little more information about him.

Name/Rank: Col. James Phillips

Organization: 919th OG

Responsibilities:  He is responsible for four squadrons flying five different mission design series with more than 450 authorized personnel. The 919th OG consists of the 711th Special Operations Squadron, 5th SOS, 2nd SOS and 919th Operations Support Squadron.

Previous assignment: Deputy commander, 919th OG

Assumed command from: Col. Donald Buckley, currently commander, 434th Air Refueling Wing, Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind.

Organizational goal: Complete the transformation of the 919th Operations Group in a safe and efficient manner while taking care of our members and their families.

Leadership philosophy: Give your people the tools and the support they need, then get out of the way and allow them to do their jobs.

Off-duty time is for: Family, volunteering with Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and woodworking.
