The 919th Special Operations Wing Safety Office is cautioning all motorists to be aware of the new traffic signals at the intersection of State Road 85 and the entrances to Duke Field and the 7th Special Forces Group.

The new signals will be fully operational beginning Sept. 9.

Motorists in this area of State Road 85 will likely face some heavy traffic backups, especially during the already busy morning and afternoon rush hour periods, according to Master Sgt. Joe Hayes, 919th SOW ground safety manager.

"We're advising everyone to be aware of these conditions, plan ahead for longer commute times, observe posted speed limits and most importantly slow down," Sergeant Hayes said. "The potential for accidents at or near this intersection will be elevated until drivers get accustomed to the new traffic light. Don't forget to inform your friends or loved ones who may travel State Road 85."

Those with questions regarding this notification can contact Sergeant Hayes at 883-6723.
