Duke Field lands on Mars
DUKE FIELD, Fla. -- Fifth-grade students from three area elementary schools transformed Duke Field's fuel cell hangar into a Martian habitat Friday during their Marsville event. After hangar space at Eglin Air Force Base became temporarily unavailable, the 919th Special Operations Wing invited the program's host 96th Air Base Wing to use their hangar space. More than 250 students, faculty and volunteers established a Martian base in the scientific project that challenged the youths' creativity and imagination in finding ways to colonize the Red planet with limited resources.
