October responses to CC comments/suggestion box Published Nov. 1, 2014 919th Special Operations Wing DUKE FIELD, Fla. -- The 919th Special Operations Wing commander installed Commander's Comments/Suggestion boxes at various locations around the base. When the questions/comments are applicable wing-wide they will be published on the home page and members who provide their name and contact information will be contacted directly. Here are the October comments/suggestions and the commander's responses: Lights on the running track Comment: It would be great to have lights on the track for safer running for those who run early or late. Response: I agree and we are looking at how to fix this issue as soon as possible by mounting additional lights around the track. This requires approval from 96th Test Wing, so it will take a while to get resolved. We currently have two options we are pricing and will proceed as soon as possible. Language sustainment at Duke Field Comment: Would like to see language sustainment opportunities at Duke Field for those who have gone through CAA training. Response: That is currently the plan and it will be fully implemented upon completion of the AvFID building in about a year. At that time, the second floor contains a portion of the AFSOAWC language center; members will be able to do all the required training and testing here. In the meantime, we are in the process of establishing a language lab with limited capabilities to perform testing here. Fitness center saunas Comment: Why is the sauna not working? Response: While looking into this issue we found that the men's room sauna had a short behind the wall, an issue that could have had catastrophic consequences; we found the same problem in the timer switch for the women's sauna. The timers have been replaced and the sauna is working. The light in the men's sauna will be repaired shortly. Gym Comment: The gym looks awesome and very clean! Better atmosphere. Response: Thank you for noticing, and thanks to everybody who participated in the cleanup after the last UTA! We will do a better job at keeping our facility in good condition and will be asking people to help make that happen. Education office Comment: I would love to see enhancement of Duke Field's Education Office. CLEP/DSST tests at Duke, DLPT/OPI language tests. Right now Reservists have to commute/schedule at Eglin or Hurlburt. Response: DANTES does not allow testing at Duke Field since there are two full-time testing facilities in commuting distance with the dedicated staff to perform those tests. Language testing will soon be available here on a limited basis, please see the answer above. Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I hope to have several of the items addressed soon if they haven't been fixed already. Please keep the comments coming. If you're comfortable, provide your name and contact information in case we have follow-up questions for you or to let you know directly what is being done about the issue you bring up.
