Master Sgt. Melvin Benton, 919th Logistics Readiness Squadron, (center)  proudly displays the official order that recently promoted him to the rank of master sergeant.  While away on a temporary duty assignment at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., the Duke Field reservist received his new stripes in a surprise presentation by Col. Michael Popovich, 944th Fighter Wing commander (left) and Chief Master Sgt. Pablo Valverde, 944th FW command chief. Sergeant Benton was one of eight Duke Field reservists awarded immediate, on-the-spot Promotion Enhancement Program promotions during the wing’s October unit training assembly. The PEP is a commander’s program designed to promote outstanding and well-deserving Air Force Reserve Airmen one grade above the authorized grade for their position.
