Lt. Col. David Newman, 919th Special Operations Wing pilot, looks out over the Gowen Field flightline while performing flight checks on MC-130E Combat Talon #567 prior to its final departure May 7. 919th aircrew members came up to bring 567 back to its final resting place – the Air Force Special Operations Command airpark at Hurlburt Field, Fla. Of the flight, the colonel said, “It was a bittersweet flight. It was an honor flying the last mission of a MC-130E Combat Talon, but somber starting the process that signals the end of the most capable all weather infiltration/exfiltration airframe in AFSOC's inventory.” 919th maintainers were also sent to Gowen Field to prepare four Talons to take off for one more mission – a flight into retirement and decommissioning. Three of the Talons flew to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Samuel King Jr.)
