The instructors and students of the 6th Ranger Training Battalion located at Camp James E. Rudder demonstrate a small portion of the training it takes to become an Army Ranger. The 61-day Ranger course ends in the humid swamps that surround Camp Rudder where trainees begin an 18-day field training course in a simulated combat environment. Daily challenges students encounter include severe weather, swampy terrain, periods of hunger, mental and physical fatigue, as well as emotional stress. Those that complete the course earn the distinction of being named an Army Ranger. (U.S. Air Force photos/Tech. Sgt. Samuel King Jr.)
