Duke follows Eglin's 'paper-to-web' trail Published March 4, 2007 By Jasmine DeNamur 919th SOW Public Affairs DUKE FIELD, Fla. -- Did you notice anything different about this issue of the Midnight Express? If it took you 10 seconds instead of your normal 15 to skim the paper, then you probably found your fingers looking for pages 9-12. Following in the footsteps of those like Eglin Air Force Base, Duke Field is moving toward the high-speed world of the internet. Instead of getting rid of the paper all together, we opted to cut four pages, so we can slowly wean our devoted readers off the physical paper and lead them to its online version. It will soon become the wing's main source of news one year from now. That's right - soon the Midnight Express will be immersed into the virtual world of fast news, where the most up-to-date information is seconds away, wherever you are. You don't have to be on base to access the newspaper nor wait for the mailman to reroute the March issue to your new address in May. With this new system, you can access it during the day at work, in the library or at home, and when you're worried about your beloved Duke Field, you can go online at 2 a.m. and sleep well knowing everything that happens on base while you're performing your civilian duties. Even deployed personnel will be able to access Duke news from any location. Are you ready to jump on the information highway? Then open your web browser and type www.919sow.afrc.af.mil and not only read the most up-to-date news, but also explore fact sheets, art, photographs and much more. The fast paced world of military life is constantly transforming, and as most Airmen know, adaptation is key. If you need help or want any information added to the site, just e-mail the wing Public Affairs office at 919sow.midnightexpress@eglin.af.mil. After all, the web is there to give you the fast service you need with a simple click of your mouse.
