Survival skills

Senior Airman Jennifer Liddicoat, 919th Maintenance Squadron survival equipment apprentice, inspects a life preserver unit, model 10\P, for holes, air pressure and packaging. The flotation device is fitted onto personnel before flight as a safety measure in case of an emergency. The device inflates when the wearer pulls two cords on each side, activating a simultaneous flow of air capable of filling both packs in less than 30 seconds.
