Air Force reservists from the 419th Fighter Wing celebrated an early Valentine’s Day Feb. 9, with residents of Chancellor Gardens, an assisted living facility in Clearfield.

Chancellor Gardens transformed a cafeteria into a dance hall to set a festive mood for its annual Valentine’s Dance, complete with live music and disco lights.

The Airmen donned their service dress uniform to match the formal attire of the seniors, many of whom got dolled up for the occasion.

“My daughter works at Chancellor Gardens as a nursing assistant, so she's told me a lot about the place and some of its residents,” said Senior Master Sgt. Brian Christensen, 419th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. “To meet them in person at such a fun event was a special, memorable experience for me.”

Christensen spent two hours on the dance floor and met many residents who either served or had spouses who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

“Some of them had connections to the Air Force,” he said. “They told me some great stories about their adventures. It was my first time attending the dance, and I’m really glad I went.”

The 419th FW has maintained an ongoing partnership with Chancellor Gardens for nearly 10 years, providing volunteers and speakers at various events.
