Commander shares Memorial Day message Published May 24, 2019 By Col. Les Bradfield III 919th Special Operations Wing DUKE FIELD, Fla. -- Please join me and take a moment to remember those who have sacrificed for our country to defend and preserve the freedom that we enjoy today as we prepare for the Memorial Day weekend. While this is a day of tremendous honor for our country, it is also a time of remembrance for those who have given their lives so others can live free.I also want to take this opportunity to thank each of you and your families for what you do every day to support this wing’s diverse mission. My best days are the ones when I get to spend time with you and see first-hand a level of competence and professionalism most Americans cannot easily comprehend. We are obviously operating under unprecedented fiscal challenges which often force us to make difficult choices to ensure we maintain the highest levels of readiness. Stay the course. I promise we will get through this.I encourage you all to remember those service members who are in harm's way and not with their families this weekend. They are the epitome of what is great about this nation and should be celebrated upon their safe return home. Please enjoy and be safe this Memorial Day weekend. Summer is a time that every Airmen should enjoy, however, don't let your guard down to safety. Make sure you have a plan, understand our local hazards, and practice good risk management when engaging in recreational activities.I am honored to serve with you and forever grateful for what you do to ensure the 919th continues to provide America's Citizen Air Commandos "Any Time, Any Place!"
