This weekend we observe the 125th anniversary of Labor Day as a national holiday. We honor the commitment and achievements of the American worker, whose dedication contributed significantly to this great Nation’s prosperity. As Citizen Air Commandos, serving in our community as well as our Air Force, you are a vital and vibrant part of what makes our Nation exceptional. I applaud the selfless sacrifice of both you and your families.

Labor Day weekend also traditionally marks the end of summer and the transition to fall. It’s a time for barbecues, a day at the beach, and the much awaited return of college football. Many of us will gather together with family and friends and enjoy a much needed break. As we approach this weekend, I ask that you remain focused on our most important resource - you! Without you, the mission is not possible. Whatever your plans, we ask that you include prudent risk management so the weekend ends on a safe and positive note. Look out for yourself, your teammates, and your families to ensure everyone makes it back safely.

I also ask you keep in mind our fellow Citizen Air Commandos and all Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who are deployed throughout the world. It’s because of you that Americans can enjoy the freedoms and liberties we all hold so dearly.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!
