Americans will soon pause to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his enduring legacy of equality and respect for other regardless of their race, gender or religion.

His “I Have a Dream” speech given in 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. was arguably the most famous of the Civil Rights Movement and still serves as an example of how Americans should treat one another today. Those values as the same ones we hold dearly as American Airmen.

As we celebrate Dr. King on his birthday, I would encourage all of our Citizen Air Commandos and their families to reflect on his extraordinary leadership and remember that our differences are actually what strengthens our team.

It is an honor to serve with you each and every day.
