Citizen Air Commandos,

Today, communities across the country will celebrate the victory earned 246 years ago marking the birth of American Independence from British rule. Our Nation's early patriots deserve our enduring gratitude for the courage and valor they demonstrated on behalf of their fellow citizens.

I'd like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated men and women in the 919th Special Operations Wing and our Total Force partners for continuing the tradition they started on the battlefield more than two centuries ago.

Whether participating in the parades and fireworks or more casual family gatherings and barbecues, please make time to reflect on the American ideals protected for us by Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who have served faithfully since our Nation's birth.

I'm grateful for the sacrifices you and your families make to build on the legacy of valor in the 919th that started more than 50 years ago at Duke Field.

I wish each of you and your families a Happy Independence Day!
