919th Special Operations Wing civic leaders listen to a briefing about the MQ-1 Predator remotely piloted aircraft Jan. 13 during a two-day civic leader tour of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., The group joined their counterparts from the Air Force Reserve's 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Civic leader tours are an Air Force Reserve program designed to increase community leaders' awareness and understanding of reservists’ roles in national security by inviting them to witness their mission at various installations. The group also received a mission briefing from the commander of the Nellis-based 2nd Special Operations Squadron, a geographically separated unit of the 919th SOW that remotely operates the aircraft on combat air patrols for combatant commanders overseas.
