Chief's story
Retired Chief Master Sgt. Walter Richardson signs a copy of his autobiography for an awaiting Airman inside the Duke Field base theater July 10. An original member of the famed World War II-era Tuskegee Airmen, the 30-year veteran later spoke to a mass audience of 919th Special Operations Wing reservists about his role as one of the first African-American Airmen tasked to begin integrating the fledgling U.S. Air Force.
