In October, the Air Force Reserve Command enlisted force honored Col. Francis Mungavin, AFRC director of recruiting, with the Order of the Sword. Before they held the prestigious ceremony, a new display sword was needed. Staff Sgt. David Henderson, a machinist with the 919th Special Operations Wing aircraft metals technology shop, took on the task of helping create the sword. Sergeant Henderson designed and crafted the handle with lattice work inlay in just seven days from a block of aluminum using high tech computerized cutting equipment in his shop. The massive sword was displayed during the Order of the Sword ceremony which can be seen in a video link on the 919th SOW, or the AFRC website. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Trey Brock)
